The Future of the Hard Hats Industry-1
In the past, a hard hats was merely an ABS hard shell with an inner lining, with its function limited to passively absorbing impacts. Nowadays, with the deep integration of the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and sensing technologies, the hard hat is undergoing an unprecedented intelligent transformation - evolving from "a piece of shell on the head" to "a brain in the cloud".
What is an intelligent hard hat?
An intelligent hard hat is a wearable Internet of Things terminal that integrates cameras, sensors, positioning modules, communication modules, and AI algorithms on the basis of traditional hard hats. It can not only "protect", but also "see, listen, speak, feel, transmit, and judge".
Take the Jianxiang Cloud Intelligent Hard Hat as an example. Its hardware parameters comply with the national standard GB/T2811-2019, weighing only 630 grams, but it is equipped with a 1300-megapixel wide-angle camera, GPS/Beidou dual-mode positioning (optional UWB centimeter-level positioning), cap-off/drop/impact sensors, barometer, near-field antenna, dual microphones and dual speakers, and a 5000mAh replaceable battery, with a protection level reaching IP66. The software layer is connected to the Jianxiang Cloud management platform, achieving three-dimensional protection and management from hardware to system.
Six core functional systems
The functions of the intelligent hard hat can be summarized into six levels, layer by layer, forming a complete intelligent safety protection network.
The first level: Perception and collection
This level is the "five senses" of the intelligent hard hat. Through the 1300-megapixel camera, it realizes first-person live streaming and photo evidence collection; through the extended gas sensors, it senses toxic and harmful gases such as methane, carbon monoxide, and hydrogen sulfide; through Bluetooth connection with a bracelet, it monitors vital signs such as heart rate, blood oxygen, and body temperature; through the near-field antenna, it senses high-voltage electric fields.
Application case: When a chemical plant worker conducts inspection, if the gas sensor detects a hydrogen sulfide leak, the hard hat immediately alarms and reports the location, avoiding poisoning accidents. When a power maintenance worker approaches a high-voltage equipment, the near-field antenna automatically warns "Distance less than 3 meters, please retreat".
The second level: Positioning and tracking
The intelligent hard hat is equipped with GPS/Beidou dual-mode positioning, with outdoor accuracy reaching 10 meters. It can be optionally equipped with a UWB module to achieve centimeter-level precise positioning in complex environments such as underground and tunnels. The barometer can record climbing height and frequency, achieving climbing detection.
Application case: When a collapse occurs in a coal mine underground, the UWB positioning can precisely locate the trapped miners to within 1 meter, significantly improving rescue efficiency. If the power inspection personnel deviate from the preset path, the system automatically alarms to prevent missed inspections of key equipment.
The third level: Warning and alarm
This is the core safety guarantee function of the intelligent hard hats. The system can monitor various abnormal states in real time and automatically trigger alarms:
Doffing Cap Alarm: If the cap detaches from the head for more than the set time, local voice prompt and background warning will be triggered.
Fall/Collision Alarm: Triggered by the acceleration sensor, it has a dual response.
Silent Alarm: If the person remains motionless for an extended period, a red pop-up window will appear on the background and the location will be displayed.
Near-Field Alarm: When approaching a high-voltage device within the safety distance, a continuous voice warning will be issued.
Gas Overlimit Alarm: If toxic or flammable gas exceeds the threshold, a voice announcement will be made and an evacuation will be automatically triggered.
Application Case: Construction workers wearing hard hats to wipe sweat while working at heights will receive an alarm "Please immediately wear the helmet" after 5 seconds, and the background will record it. After a chemical worker inhales toxic gas and becomes unconscious, the silent alarm will automatically trigger, and the monitoring room will immediately locate and send personnel for rescue.
Fourth Level: Communication and Collaboration

The intelligent hard hats supports real-time video calls, and the background can directly initiate audio and video connections with on-site personnel. The broadcast notification function can convert the text sent by the background into voice announcements, which is suitable for group instructions and emergency evacuations. The SOS emergency call button can trigger personal rescue and can also automatically activate the cameras of surrounding hard hats to achieve multi-angle recording of the incident scene.
Application Case: During tunnel construction, the dispatch center detects that a track vehicle is approaching, and broadcasts "Please move to the refuge pit" immediately. Workers evacuate in time. After a firefighter is trapped, pressing the SOS button triggers the system to automatically activate the cameras of three surrounding helmets, and the commander makes a precise rescue based on multi-angle analysis.
Fifth Level: Identity and Attendance
The intelligent hard hats introduces voice recognition technology, which dynamically and randomly triggers voice verification, effectively eliminating proxy record and the phenomenon of person and helmet separation. The electronic fence attendance function realizes unobtrusive attendance, and the workers' entry and exit of the fence area will automatically record their working hours.
Application Case: At the factory entrance, an old employee replaces a new colleague with a hard hat for attendance, and the hard hat randomly triggers voice recognition. If the verification does not match, an alarm "Not the registered helmet of this person" will be triggered immediately. Cold chain warehouse workers entering and exiting the warehouse area will be automatically recorded by the electronic fence, and no manual operation is required.
Sixth Level: Data and Closed Loop
All warning information is archived in multiple dimensions such as time, location, personnel, and photos, forming a complete security inspection file and evidence chain. The system automatically generates a daily usage report every day, including the duration of wearing the helmet, the number of steps walked, and the number of ascents.
Application Case: When a safety officer conducts inspections, taking photos and uploading them to the security inspection file, the images will be automatically associated with the time, location, and personnel, forming an unalterable evidence chain. At 9 a.m. every day, the system pushes the previous day's usage report, allowing managers to view which employees have insufficient helmet wearing time and carry out targeted safety education.
Value Closed Loop: From Passive Defense to Active Prevention
The intelligent hard hat is not an isolated hardware but a complete "perception - analysis - warning - handling - closed loop" system. It digitizes the person's location, status, environment, and behavior, and forms real-time linkage with the management platform.
Its core value lies in: shifting from post-accident accountability to in-process intervention, ultimately achieving pre-emptive prevention.
From underground coal mines to heights of over 100 meters, from high-voltage restricted areas to low-temperature cold storage warehouses, the risk forms vary in different industries, but the core logic of the intelligent hard hat is the same - sensing risks, immediate warning, collaborative response, and data closed loop. As industry insiders say: "When a hard hats can 'see' the invisible dangers, 'call out' the words you can't say, 'remember' the violations you ignored, it is no longer just a tool, but a digital defense line for life."
