Where has the hard hat evolved to? —The Smart Technology of hard hats Chapter 2

Yesterday, we learned about the application scope and core definition of the intelligent hard hats, as well as its strict technical requirements. We continued to explore the standards of the intelligent Hard hats and the possibilities of industry development.

I.Standardized testing methods: 5 normative appendices, unifying the testing and judgment logic

The standard comes with 5 normative appendices, unifying the testing process for the entire industry, eliminating the inconsistent self-testing standards of various manufacturers:
1. Appendix A: Wearing status monitoring: 5 samples, 3 types of mechanical path simulations for removing the cap, recognition of cap removal within 5 minutes is considered qualified;
2. Appendix B: Personnel status monitoring: 3 types of static postures simulations, continuous static positioning for 15 minutes for precise determination of static state;
3. Appendix C: Positioning test: outdoor RTK high-precision calibration, indoor area signal testing, quantifying positioning error;
4. Appendix D: Alarm function: intrusion into dangerous areas, emergency call, three types of alarms for the entire process verification;
5. Appendix E: Environmental temperature monitoring: -10℃ to 50℃ gradient temperature box test, strictly controlling temperature measurement deviation. All tests are conducted under unified environmental conditions (15/40℃, humidity 45%/75%), the entire machine is tested with all intelligent modules integrated, without splitting the electronic components for separate detection.

II.Product identification and manufacturer delivery requirements, achieving full-process traceability

1.Mandatory permanent identification
In addition to the traditional hard hatsidentification, it must also mark the standard number and the exclusive marking for intelligent protection performance, facilitating supervision and procurement for quick identification of compliant products;
2. Manufacturer supporting materials
In addition to the GB 2811 specified manual, it must separately provide special usage instructions for intelligent module operation, alarm logic, positioning deployment, battery maintenance, etc., to ensure the enterprise's implementation and use.

III.The significance of the standard's introduction to the industry, and three major changes worthy of attention

1.Elimination of low-end non-standard products
Previously, in the market, a large number of simple modified hard hatsonly added positioning modules, sacrificing impact protection, battery without safety certification, and alarm delay was serious; the new standard raises the entry threshold, and the three-level detection of protection, electronics, and intelligence are executed simultaneously.
2. Unifying industry procurement and testing standards
Construction, energy, mining and other enterprises have clear compliance basis for purchasing intelligent hard hats,third-party testing institutions have a unified determination method, reducing standard differences between supply and demand sides.
3. Accelerating the digital transformation of safety management
Through unified indicators such as off-cap, off-duty, dangerous area, and high-altitude fall warnings, realize real-time closed-loop control of construction site personnel risks, shift safety management from "post-event accountability" to "pre-warning, pre-disposal", and reduce the frequency of accidents such as high-altitude falls, violation of off-cap, and entering dangerous areas.
In conclusion, currently, this standard is still in the stage of soliciting opinions. Relevant manufacturing enterprises, construction units, and testing institutions can submit modification suggestions based on their own products and on-site application scenarios, and attach relevant patent supporting materials. After the standard is officially released and implemented, the intelligent hard hats will enter a new stage of standardized and normalized development, and build a "physical protection  and intelligent warning" dual safety barrier for frontline workers.
